HOW IT WORKS:

PRE-PRESS PRODUCTION

Design Concept Printing, your digital file is converted to plates, with a different plate used for each of the primary colours - black, cyan, magenta and yellow. This is why offset printing is also known as four-colour printing, although there are many colours in the final output.

 

These plates are scanned and the data is saved on a micro cassette which becomes the master - this is used to determine the quantity of ink to be released during printing.

 

COLOUR AND REGISTRATION CONTROL

Colour registration is a computer-aided process whereby the Register Control System automatically aligns the printing plates according to their registration marks as they apply their respective colours during printing. This guarantees the right colours and sharper images in the final output.

 

Colour control determines how well the ink blends together to achieve the desired appearance in the final printed piece, and releases controlled amounts of ink onto the paper according to pre-set values.

 

After printing, the paper is passed through an oven to dry the ink, before moving through chill rollers containing refrigerated water to set the ink in place. This prevents inks from smudging, resulting in crisp, clear printing.

 

THE PRINT RUN

We print using individual sheets of pre-cut paper on sheet-fed presses, and our press is capable of handling various paper formats and sizes.

BINDING

Your printed product is completed in the bindery, where the rolls of printed paper are cut and assembled in the correct order, then stapled or glued in a machine called the stitcher.

 

We offer a wide range of binding options, from plastic and wire comb-binding to saddle-stitching. Embossing and hot foil can also be added for a luxurious final flourish.

 

SECURE DELIVERY

After printing and binding, the product is stacked so the ink can cure. We undertake rigorous quality checks of the printed sheets at this stage to ensure correct ink density and registration for a practically perfect print.
